Took a day trip out to the Grey Mare's Tail (apparently the UK's fifth highest waterfall) and Loch Skeen at the top of the valley. First opportunity for me to test out driving on some rural Scottish roads, equal parts heaps of fun and terrifying.
The "headline attraction" was the main drop of the waterfall, which was pretty much visible straight from the car park.
But I did also want to visit the loch which feeds the falls, and also had half a plan to do a loop of the hills at the top but decided against that. Getting to the loch required a very steep hike up the side of the falls. Which gave great views of the valley below and passing by many more smaller falls.
The path flattens out near the top of the falls and there is quite a well known moment of turning a corner in the path and being greeted by the vista of the loch at the surrounding hills.
Ate lunch at the shores of the loch and pottered around taking some more pictures. Personally I feel like the loch is much more picturesque than the more famous falls below.
Little car did good on its first proper trip out.
